Halloween
Social to be held by Golden University at Kennesaw State (October
4, 2000) Continuing Education's Golden University at KSU will hold a Halloween
social Thursday, October 26 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Complete with ghoulish treats,
haunting laughter therapy and prizes, this event is designed to celebrate the
season, it was announced today by Barbara Calhoun, dean of Continuing Education.
"There will be prizes for best costumes however, costumes are completely
optional," said Richard Harp, Golden University Director. "We want everyone to
have fun and be comfortable, so if they want to wear a costume that's wonderful,
and if they don't that's fine too." Harp also explained he is expecting
well over 200 people to attend. "At the last open house, which was in July, there
were over 200 people and everyone really had fun. We even had phone calls and
letters afterwards asking when we were going to have another event for our Golden
University friends and participants." Riverside Bank and WellStar's Goodlife
Club are event co-sponsors. Continuing Education's Golden University offers a
variety of educational opportunities for adults 50 and older, and has served more
than 2000 participants. The purpose of the Golden University is to promote lifelong
learning and continued intellectual and personal growth for its members. Academic
courses are college level (without homework, term papers or tests) and cover everything
from personal computers to rare books, languages, photography and acrylic painting.
The Halloween social will be held at the KSU Center located at 3333 George
Busbee Drive. The cost is $5.00 for one person. Seating is limited. Please call
