or fweyand@kennesaw.edu KSU's Kennesaw Mountain Writing Project invites applications for Summer Institute The Kennesaw Mountain Writing Project invites applications for its 2003 summer institute to be held June 4-27 at Kennesaw State University. Consistent with the National Writing Project program model, the KMWP institute is a teachers writing workshop with the following major components: writing groups and diverse writing activities to promote participants' development as writers; a teaching demonstration by each summer fellow to highlight "best practices" for writing instruction; and a program of professional reading focused on recent scholarship in the teaching of writing and writers' social practices. Participants selected for the summer institute come from all types of instructional settings, including schools, universities, writing centers, tutorial programs, businesses and non-profits where writing is taught. Summer fellows are selected from K-12 schools, private and public, and from a range of subject areas. Also each year the program accepts participants from colleges and other teaching institutions. Summer fellows will learn from other educators who work in a variety of settings and are able to view participants' work in the context of research-based teaching practices and theories for sound writing instruction. For more information on the summer institute, visit the KMWP Web site at http://kmwp.kennesaw.edu, e-mail kmwp@kennesaw.edu or call 770-423-6297. Applications must be received on or before March 10. ### Kennesaw State University is a comprehensive, residential institution with a growing student population of 15,600 from 118 countries. The fifth largest out of 34 institutions in the University System of Georgia, KSU offers 55 undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
