State hosts science bowl competition 1/22/01 - Kennesaw
State University's Tau Epsilon chapter of the biology honor society Beta Beta
Beta and Solvay Pharmaceuticals Inc. will host the Georgia Junior Academy of Sciences
Regional Science Bowl Competition on Saturday, Jan. 27, 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. The
event at KSU is one of six regional competitions to be held around the state that
day. The top three teams from each regional competition will advance to the state
competition. The winning team from the state then moves on to the national competition.
Solvay has provided funding to support the competition at KSU. Solvay's
support allowed for the purchase of quizbowl buzzer systems, refreshments, lunch
and T-shirts for participants, coaches and volunteers. Teams from six area
high schools are scheduled to compete at KSU. They will be quizzed on topics in
biology, chemistry, physics, astronomy, earth science, computer science and mathematics
in a rapid question and answer format. Competing high schools--
Brookwood High School, Snellville Collins Hill High School, Suwanee Etowah
High School, Woodstock Harrison High School, Kennesaw Lassiter High
School, Marietta Walton High School, Marietta Solvay
