Author and marketing executive Chris Coleman leads off 10th anniversary of KSU's executive-format MBA program

Marketing executive and author Chris Coleman is the featured speaker at a Friday, March 7 event celebrating the 10th anniversary of Kennesaw State University's MBA for Experienced Professionals program. A reception for alumni, students, faculty and staff begins at 6 p.m. The speech, which is open to the general public, follows at 7 p.m. in Room 300 of KSU Center, 3333 Busbee Parkway in Kennesaw.

Coleman's address leads off the 2003 "Lessons in Leadership" Series. It is also the first in a series of events celebrating the 10th anniversary of the executive-format MBA programs at KSU's Coles College of Business. In May, journalist David Brancaccio, anchor of the public radio program Marketplace, will appear.

KSU has the largest executive-format MBA program in the Southeast, and the second largest in the nation. It recently added a second session of its popular MBA for Experienced Professionals program, which now gets underway both in April and November. Associates work in virtual teams over the Internet with counterparts from international educational institutions, and meet once a month for weekend sessions at KSU's state of the art Executive Development Center. The current class recently returned from a trip to Romania, where they met their counterparts at Romania's Institute for Business and Public Administration.

Hundreds of BellSouth and Cingular employees have graduated from KSU's BellSouth MBA program, and dozens of doctors have graduated from KSU's MBA for Physician Executives program.

The event also marks the launch of a new alumni organization -- Executive MBA Reoccurring Knowledge (EMBARK.) EMBARK will host networking and educational events to offer continuing opportunities to graduates.

Coleman is an author and pioneer in technology marketing. Currently chief marketing officer of SecureWorks, an Internet security company, she was the founder of Folio Z, the first technology advertising agency in the Southeast. She has launched, branded and promoted products for more than 200 companies worldwide. In 1996 she launched the Green Banana Marketing Workshops to help CEOs create crisp, clear corporate messages. She has also written two books: The Green Banana Papers, published by St. Barthelemy Press, and Winning the Technology Talent War, published by McGraw-Hill.

The first female president of the Business & Technology Alliance, she was also a founding member of the Technology Association of Georgia, which is now the largest organization of its kind in the U.S.
