Book signing and reading: "Golden Poetry: A Celebration of Southern Poets"

A partnership between the Kennesaw State University Department of English and the CAREing Center resulted in the creation of the book, "Golden Poetry: A Celebration of Southern Poets 50 and Older." The anthology consists of more than 70 poems chosen in a competition sponsored by Kennesaw State's CAREing Center and judged by Georgia Poet Laureate David Bottoms.

Barnes & Noble at Town Center will host a reading and book signing of "Golden Poetry" as part of national poetry month on Thursday, April 17, 5-7 p.m. Featured poets include Norma Finney, JoAnn Cook, Bill Lamore, Lee Passarella, Nancy Treu Klotz, Robert Hays, Janice Moore, Sam Benedict and prize-winners Rupert Fike and Julia Evatt. Dr. Laura Dabundo, English department chair, will host the event.

The Kennesaw State University Bookstore will host a book signing and reading on Tuesday, April 29, noon-1:30 p.m. Featured poets will be Bette Callahan, Klea Stillwell, Starkey Flythe and Gloria Greenbaum.

Showcasing the talents of senior citizens is part of the CAREing Center's mission. This first poetry competition and anthology fit that mission well. The poetry is filled with wit, wisdom and keen observation, all lit by the candle of life experience.
