Release date: May 21, 2003 Contact: Cheryl Anderson Brown, PR Coordinator for the School of the Arts, 770-499-3417 or cbrown@kennesaw.edu Kennesaw State Presents Women's Art Exhibition Thirty-five artists will be represented in "Emergence," the 3rd Annual Women's Caucus for Art of Georgia Members' Show. "Emergence seems to be a great metaphor for doing art work: plunging, sinking, being overwhelmed and then coming up for air," states Hunter Levinsohn, an exhibiting North Carolina artist. The School of the Arts at Kennesaw State University presents this year's exhibit which opens Thursday, June 12, with a public reception 7-9 p.m. in the Fine Arts Gallery. Many of the artists will be present to discuss their work. Exhibiting painter, Janice L. Metzel says, "My works . . . explore the concepts of passage and transition, to which the title Emergence is very well suited." Another artist, Barb Rehg states, "I have had the opportunity to devote full time to my art and I feel as though emergence is what I have been allowed and emergence is where I am going." "Emergence" includes paintings, photography, printmaking, drawing, collage and sculpture representing the diverse membership of WCAGA. "My painting is from an Atlanta Botanical Garden trip. This person is emerging from the Ecuadorian rain forest with a yellow orchid, hence the connection with the title of the show," notes artist Marjorie Jordan. The following artists from four states will be represented: Heather Barbour, Tania Becker, Jan Chenoweth, Jeannine Cook, Shirley Cox, Sandy Culp, Peggy Hicks Dupuy, Deborah Glenn, Nikki Grote, Kristin Gudjonsdottir, Catherine High, Jane Jaskevich, Marjorie Jordan, Jennifer Julian, Diane Kempler, Silja Lahtinen, Kate Lehman Landishaw, Susan Leeb, Hunter Levinsohn, Chris Lewis, Janice L.
